Made with LOVE!
We've got a joke in our family about food made with love... Jeff always rants & raves about anything I make homemade...not because I'm a great cook...but, because it's made with love. (I love him for this!) So, now our kids will taste something store bought & say...'mm. It's good, but it's not made with love.'
So, today is a very special day. A day where I'm bringin' out the big guns...making a special home-made-from-scratch-carrot-cake-for-the -birthday-of-the-man-o-my-dreams: Mr. Farrer. some shugah for My Mr. Farrer.
Now, this is not just any carrot cake...it's KILLER CARROT CAKE> & if you don't believe it...look at the recipe, written in our cook book by Mr. Farrer.
Of course, all fresh ingredients...shredded carrots; crushed pineapple, raisins, pecan bits...the works!
but...the secred ingredient for this cake is....
yes. the orange zest...we happened upon this little addition to the Killer Carrot Cake when a dear friend of ours made a deeeelish cake last year & Jeff just kept dying...this recipe was fan*tastic and? the secret? the orange zest.
So, I am happily donning my apron today; zippin' around our kitchen creating a birthday cake made with love for the man of my dreams....Mr. Farrer.
I love Mr. Farrer for who he is. For who he makes me want to be. For how much he loves me & shows it every.day.
For how he makes me feel....yes. that little butterfly feeling is still in my stomach even after 15 years of love.
For how he doesn't laugh at me when I cry...not matter what. no matter how many times.
For the way he is with our kids....he is so cute; so funny; so strong; such a wonderful leader of our family...I would happily follow him to the ends o' the earth because I know that he has our best interest in mind all the time. He loves us & he shows it by the way he acts.
For how funny he is....he can get me laughing 'til I cry. I love this. I love that release...but, I love it more when we both laugh this hard. And with his sense o' humor...that happens often.
For what a hard worker he is...he sacrifices everything for us & i am forever grateful for his strength...I seriously am amazed every day at what he does...for me. for us.
For how good looking he is...ha! I know...I'm his wife. I should think he's good looking. But, wow....he lights me on fi*yah! And ya wanna know what the best part is? That I think he's good looking even more...every day. Because of the way he lives. The way he loves. and the way he makes me happy with my own 'growing up'. Now...a note about how silly I am: I went through a little phase where I was kind of in dismay at my aging body; at age 40. How my skin is changing; how it's 'maturing'...and he just tells me he loves me even more. He makes me happy that I'm growing (& looking ) old with him...that is good looking to me: to age together & love each other even more. I've never been happier in my life than I am right now. With Mr. Farrer.
So, my love, happiest of birthdays. I'm so happy we are together forever & that you were born into this world to be my soul mate.
